The task originally started off with Alex's concept as he had presented it to us when discussing as a group. We had agreed that with the use of social media there seems to be an issue where people will voice their opinions about politics but then when it comes to voting they don't bother for one reason or another. So therefore we made this campaign with the slogan "shut up or vote!" which is a somewhat bold statement to show that people don't vote- again implemented with "your voice is your vote".
For the presentation we split the work up into three sections to discuss:
Alex: Concept and overall idea/ target audience (young people 18-22)
Me: Aesthetic design decisions
Jess: Distribution of the information/ relevant locations
The design initially started with some hand rendered brush type which Alex had created in black- this was to give the feel of a bold campaign that was human and therefore personal. We discussed black/white or colour options and it was apparent that political parties have their own colour palettes so this makes colour choices incredibly difficult. Therefore to avoid this confusion and to ensure the message of the campaign was followed through we decided that neon colours (pantone) would not interfere with the political colours- it would be separate but the bold colours allow it to stand out. In terms of distribution it was discussed that we would put the campaign in public places where young people are likely to be such as universities, public transport and online too. Larger one off prints such as the billboards could be printed in full colour as they are limited amounts but in terms of cost we would print flyers on coloured stock with black ink to save on money.
