OUGD504: Brief 4- Slogans

I started looking at quotes that I could use as slogans or messages in the campaign but initially looking at the quote I used on my website in the costs page. Although it is quite long and I need something which is more direct to the point and would stand out on a poster or other material.

"You took care of your horse, and your horse took care of you.

Elton Gallegly"

Love means attention, which means looking after the things we love.

We call this stable management.

– George H. Morris, The American Jumping Style

The Joy of horses is not the riding, jumping, racing, showing,

or grooming, but of owning

Ask not what your horse can do for you – Ask what you can do for

your horse.

After looking at quite a few pages of different quotes which were related I couldn't really find what I was looking for. I knew I wanted it to be something to make people think so I wrote out a few of my own ideas for slogans:
- Don't be part of the equine crisis
- Are you doing what's right for your horse?
- Don't neglect your horse through ignorance
- 7,000 horses in the UK are at risk. Don't be part of the problem.

After reading these to a few member of family and friends who like horses and other animals they suggested that the best one to use was "don't neglect your horse through ignorance". I think it would work quite well because it suggests that neglect is avoidable and skills can be learnt, which is entirely correct. So therefore I am going to try and work this into imagery for my campaign. For the main poster I think I will use this text alone as it will stand out and become a feature to be read from a distance.
