OUGD403- Illustrator Induction

Illustrator Workshop

I haven't used Illustrator thoroughly before so I found this initial workshop incredibly helpful as I haven't worked with vectors much before and now understand how pixels and vectors are different. I also found out how to use the pen tool on Illustrator which proved helpful in creating simple shapes and forms.

Through experimenting with line types, I found that you can create your own forms of brushes and adjust line width and textures, these will become useful when experimenting with my second brief. I also began to experiment with opacity much like in photoshop as well as applying gradients to letterforms, they must be edited to become an "outline" first, shown above with shape.

I also found that by creating a "clipping mask" the letterform will use the pattern you have created to fill it, this was helpful to know and will become vital when developing my initial alphabet set based on occupation onto illustrator.

I also found out that you can put text onto curves that you have made using the pen tool which I previously didn't know, this was a helpful tip from the tutorial and will help me in the future in other design work.
