Critique:
I received feedback that the group liked the illustrations that I have done but felt as though the colour scheme didn't work at all. They expressed that they really didn't like the blue at all and that because the colours are quite modern it doesn't "work". Therefore I need to rethink my colour schemes but I don't want to use cream and beige like suggested, from experimenting earlier I found these looked too dull and boring.
It was also mentioned that the layout and grid I have chosen to work with doesn't fit the imagery at all and this should be more of the focus. It was also suggested that I could make the illustrations a "pop of colour" to make them stand out among the rest but I'm not sure this is a good idea as they are hand rendered and this entail redrawing them all.
Hand rendered type was mentioned and perhaps I could use this for the subheadings underneath each of the objects- using hand rendered type on the buttons would't work in terms of links and the SEO as mentioned before in a previous post.
The feedback I have gained from this crit has caused me to reconsider virtually all of my design decisions for this brief and I think I am going to experiment with the content in terms of use of type/ layout and colours. I think by using a more natural and toned down colour palette this could suit the intensions of appealing to animal lovers.
Examples of websites that use natural colours:
Websafe fonts:
When re-looking at the web safe fonts I found that perhaps by using one font for all of the type it limited the information hierarchy in terms of aesthetic. I really liked number 3 which is in fact courier new, the spacing between each of the letters works well as a header and I feel this could work for my buttons.

Looking at natural colour swatches:
As I had previously used blue and I received negative feedback about this colour in conjunction with the imagery I have already used I have decided it would be best to use warmer colours such as beiges, greens, taupes, browns.
However these looks quite flat and perhaps would appear more "rustic" and "earthy" by adding textures to them:
It makes the colours seem muted and like a flat block colour. The solid colours on their own are quite modern looking and perhaps are a little shiny looking, by adding a texture it makes them appear much like print would on brown or grey papers, the pigment isn't as strong and has a slightly more earthy aura to it. These colour swatches if used as a button would need to be saved as a png (image) to be used within my website to ensure it would be web safe as these colours are not currently part of the 216 web safe colours. To develop I need to experiment with the layouts I already have and trying to recreate the colour scheme and fonts.
