The original book covers are quite typical of books about evacuee children during war time but I feel as though as a children's book this should be made much more exciting and intriguing to the actual content of the story and plot rather than just simply the war surrounding the reasoning to leave. The cover I feel should suggest parts of the story and create questions as what is interesting about why she did such a "bad thing" and should influence children to want to read it as this is for slightly older children it should appeal to both them and their parents as they could be the ones purchasing the book.
"A unique take, boldness and perhaps a bit of mystery.. great sense of colour and layout. Something that is dynamic on the page and when you see that the whole cover and whole book has been thought through.. it is a very intuitive process, you see something and you just like it. An art director would ask all sorts of questions, is the authors name large enough (type) marketing strategies, is it eye catching on the shelf? Is it impactful when you see it on a website and it has got to work in a book shop. It has got to tell you something about the book that you're about to buy. It could be the type that is beautiful or the image that is eye-catching."
The main points that I have gained from looking at the website and the brief is that the book needs to be really considered through its narrative and the imagery produced needs to reflect the book in an interesting and unique way to be able to stand out in a competition. This book also needs to stand out from all the other children's war books within the book shops and on an online store.
