Before deciding on a project to complete/ rebrand I had a look at logos and branding in several different books:
Quotes explaining what a logo and a brand should be:
Examples of good logos and brands:
Innocent definitely incorporate their individual personality as a brand within their logo and their products, the type they use is informal and fun and can be seen as a little childish which isn't a bad thing. Their brand includes the values that the smoothies should taste good and do good (natural ingredients). Innovation and fun is definitely portrayed within the logo and general brand aura which is part of their brand experience. Sustainability is a big part of the brand including sourcing ethical fruit suppliers and considering their carbon footprint. The reason why these products are much more expensive is that 10% of all profits goes towards non-government charity organisations which definitely shows the "does good" idea the brand holds.
Alexander McQueen is a highly respected and beautiful clothing brand which initially started with the incredible designer himself. He left a set of brand values which are shown throughout each piece of clothing designed by the brand. The logo itself uses a beautiful serif font which in itself looks stunningly traditional. McQueen takes these British traditions and makes them unconventional, the designs are beautiful and elegant much like the logo and the brand itself is known for being extremely professional with tailoring primarily shown through catwalk shows. Each piece created represents a small part of the brand which as a whole is a masterpiece and known as a "fairytale" fashion brand especially with links to artists such as Lady Gaga.
Chanel on the other hand is a completely different brand which along with the logo represents fashion to beautifully understated. On this spread it suggests that "Luxury is when the inside is as beautiful as the outside". Chanel's logo is simplistic and understated but works incredibly well on other products. This brand at the time when first coming about took inspiration from masculine clothing and created a storm into the female fashion world with blazers and jumpers along with perfume packaging which was completely unconventional. Chanel as a whole represents its initial values of "quality of workmanship that denotes luxury". The brand as a whole represents that beauty and luxury isn't necessarily over the top design can be simple, classic, timeless and elegant.
