I began first changing my logo type by extending the L so it fills the circle more and I think this works quite well however the ove needs to be changed and scaled up to join the rest of the letters however even though they are small I think the ove looks visually much better now they are joined together as if it were the flow of a pen.
I made the ove much larger to try and work better with the L and I think this looks visually more balanced however the e isn't quite right as the finial (lower flick of the e) doesn't quite look correct.
So therefore I made this part of the e line up with the upper part of the letterform and therefore it tucks into the letter much neater.
I tried to adjust the defender of the f but with the limited space in the circle this didn't work at all.
The f on this image works much better so I decided to retrace what I had done to see what it looks like with neater lines.
I'm much happier with how this looks in comparison to the design I took into the crit however I think the r needs to be completely separate from the C and A because it becomes slightly illegible, the t is also too large as I slipped across the line slightly with my fine liner.
I put the original image along with my development to see where the changes needed to be made and with the change of moving the r and a I saw that the t wasn't on the same baseline with these lower case letterforms.
So therefore I adjusted the shape of the t to make the logo appear more balanced.
I'm much happier with my result after adjusting the proportions of the letterforms and feel as though in comparison to my attempts seem on the left the image on the right is much more legible and I'm going to scan this in to work over in illustrator.
Initial logo design before crit (left)... final logo design (right):
I have decided that the logo should remain black and white so that it can be placed onto a variety of different beer bottle labels in a vast amount of colours based on the beer and also onto other products such as pint glasses and signage.
