OUGD404: Type Journal

Photographs taken near Olonne-sur-Mer, Vendee, France.

The type used at the equestrian centre is a western style of font.

"Le Ranch" (The Ranch) which gives connotation of what we already know to be 'western' which is seen in films, such as a free lifestyle and somewhat 'cowboy' aesthetics. This was present within the equestrian centre as the horses/riders were allowed to freely roam the beach. This font I feel could have the origin of block due to the wide letterforms however because this type is quite intricate in its details it is definitely created by silicone/digital.

These are some similar western fonts and the equestrian centre has clearly chosen these fonts to portray a certain lifestyle to its customers.

They have also used another font which is quite friendly. "La Bienvenue" means 'welcome' and therefore this reflects a friendly atmosphere which would of also been considered for the signage. The majority of the customers which visited were tourists.
