OUGD603: Brief 8- Design Development

Ideas for using William Morris inspired designs:

Mocked up as ideas:

Using simple shapes to create patterns:

After discussing these initial sketches and design developments we focused on how to move forward and which designs would be most suitable.

Digitising these ideas:

Idea 1 involved creating bold curved shapes into a heart. This creates a symbol often seen at weddings but in a modern way. Jacqui liked this design because it appealed to the younger and stylish audience she is aiming for.

Idea 2 involved creating borders that represented the initial ideas from looking at William Morris designs from the arts and crafts movement in victorian england. This is because a large amount of weddings in the UK are still incredibly traditional and are held in heritage homes. This style of design would appeal to those who want an elegant and traditional aura to their wedding.

Idea 3 involves flowers and delicate feminine petals throughout. This design serves as an alternative to idea one. This is because this design would appeal to those who want a fun or quirky wedding with a floral theme.

To move these designs forward to print I will pitch boards with possible colour and stock choices for each design. It is important that Jacqui understands in these boards that a range of colours can be used both dark shades, light/ pastel colour, bright tones for summer and also metallics.
