OUGD603: Brief 8- Research

To create designs in collaboration with the Practical Printers I need to understand what aesthetic of design is used within laser cut wedding stationary. This is because Jacqui explained that they wanted to include feminine and floral designs which are representative of what the majority of couples would want to see in a wedding invite.

Laser cut designs can be simple or detailed but for wedding stationary as I have found in designs similar to this they use flourishes alongside flowers or hearts.

The simple design within a heart is a great idea of making delicate lines in a shape which is completely appropriate and suitable for weddings.

For a different couple this style of design could be perfect as it is feminine and delicate but it doesn't include hearts or flowers. Having a design like this would be perfect as part of a set to show how the laser cutter can be used for various layouts.

When speaking on the phone to Jacqui we discussed different stock choices. This image shows how stocks and colours can showcase the laser cut section which could work really well within wedding stationary with metallic stocks.

Use of type/ design:

Discussing with Jacqui the designs needs to use feminine and delicate typography. This means that the font choices need to be thin and simple without too many flourishes so they are legible as an invite to fulfil their purpose.
